SUPER, same version as Norman Fox & the Rob Roys, writen by Sedaka & Greenfield. I'm not sure what year he wrote this but Neil had a demo in 1970 the same year the Globtrotters released it. I believe if Neil had written & released this in 1961-63, I think he would have had a big hit, I guess we'll never know.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! ..........use to request it every day, when my old man was in NAM, was hoping he knew how much i missed him, and how much I wanted to see him. No such thing as i-phones, nothing, I had to rely on letters, ............no e-pad's, or cell-phones, just, OVER-AND-OUT.....

  • @TOMAN4EVER We didn't have a tenth of what we have now, but you were king of the streets if you owned a Transister Radio & I did, a little white Emerson. Our phone was on a party line w/ my neighbor who loved to talk. A 1948 Chevy Ice-Cream truck that came by around 6:00PM was the big treat. All the kids in the neighborhood played Hide-Go-Seek every night. Bozo was the 1st color TV program, then Bonanza. We didn't have much as compared 2 today, but life was simple, fun & now, cherished!

  • Just became aware of this song today when Jerry Blavat played it on the radio. Good God Almighty...what a great record. It's such a shame that today's music bears absolutely no resemblance to this fantastic songwriting and singing. God bless the talented people who gave us great songs like this.

" It's such a shame that today's music bears absolutely no resemblance to this fantastic songwriting and singing. God bless the talented people who gave us great songs like this." I couldn't agree more my friend! This is why we have to keep this music alive and strong. I thank God for every poster & listener out there & mostly YT. for allowing this music to live again!

  • I don't know why this song hasen't reached 1.0000000000000.0000000000000, it is the greatest song ever!!!!!!

  • @TOMAN4EVER Maybe someday? Anyway, I can tell you like it, thanks for all your kind words!

  • What a fantastic song. I started listening to this song back in the 70's & it never gets old. Don't you wish they made music like this today? Such talent; absolutely spectacular music.

  • The 1st color TV program was an NBC special of Alice In Wonderland in 1953. Bonanza was the first all clor regular series.. Some shows were filmed in color long before that but never shown in color till later years. They were the Adventures of Wild Bill Hickock W/ Guy Madison. Cisco Kid-All episodes, Superman-half of them, Gene Autry show-2 seasons. I don't know of any others. Bozo started on WGN Chicago and then went into local syndication around the country.

  • @dowopper51....I can remember it all.......come home when the street lights come on......yeah we had it all.

  • Great record. I haven't heard this one before.

  • @dowopper51 finally raining today, not much, but I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dowopper51 I will never forget the 60's, they were the BEST!!!!

  • Thanks for posting an amazing song, first time I've heard this and it really moved me. That said, I'm not sure I agree with those lamenting the state of modern music; one couldn't make a song like this today, it would sound dated and derivative. There's lots of good new music, but it reflects our current cultural and musical sensibilities--there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, if people were still making music like this, this song wouldn't be so special!

  • Great song, it's from the 70s but it has a very late 50s/early 60s Motown sound, like along the lines of Jackie Wilson or Major Lance. I gotta agree with the description, had this been realeased before 1967, this would've been a hit.

  • i love sedaka, but these guysdo it even better

    love it

  • @dowopper51 doowopper51, hi it's tom d brick,nj.[doowopman49]. i really think that kukla, fran and ollie was the first "color program" however i may be confusing that with NBC NEWS . for me it's about a F-A-D-I-N-G memory and you're probably right.
