The Education Project of Kasanka National Park (managed by the Kasanka Trust, non-profit) in Zambia, is committed to sponsoring students from the surrounding area to high school. These students are on their own financially not able to attend secondary school, as they are orphans. The Trust carefully selects students who show motivation, persistence, initiative, enthusiasm, and determination. The Education Project is funded by external donations from various trusts and charities, as well as individual sponsors. Every year, the Sponsored students go on a four day Nature Camp in the National Park.
The Trust actively seeks support from the local community to secure the long term future of Kasanka National Park. By using education as a basic tool, Kasanka Trust is trying to increase the communitys awareness of conservation and promotes economic development.
Kasanka National Park is not only a splendid National Park to visit, it also initiates groundbreaking conservation and education initiatives aimed at the needs of the local community. The ultimate goals of Kasanka Trust are to secure the future of biodiversity in Kasanka National Park, funded through tourism revenue, and to sustain as well as stimulate the local economy through improved natural resource management.
