Some members of the Henleyfield Thank God It's Friday Red Hat Society and Mah-Jongg Club visit the UCM Museum (AKA The Abita Mystery House) in Abita Springs. Artist John Preble has created what may be Louisiana's most eccentric museum--a folk art environment with thousands of found objects, animated dioramas including a New Orleans jazz funeral, playable arcade games, an extensive collection of paint-by-number art, memoriabilia, and--let's be honest--some actual junk.

The museum/mystery house has grown beyond one building to include gardens, sculpture, and several outbuildings. Under John's guiding hand, the collection is creative and entertaining, and a deal for $3 admission.

And I bet you won't leave the gift shop empty-handed.
