I had a similar experience to Jed's. It wasn't a duck, but a seagull and it was fishing line wrapped around it, not a 6 pack and it wasn't by any means that hard to catch. I pretty much backed it into a corner, picked it up and with the help of my friends, got the fishing line off the bird. I named him Lucky. lol

I think the main lesson here is quite clear: Don't Litter! Throw your garbage into trash cans, not into ponds, lakes, rivers, and certainly not on the ground!
