This is a commercial of Seaside Heights featuring scenes filmed between 1969 and 1976, but released Quebec, Canada in 1977. Clearly dating the film is the appearance of current Seaside Heights Director of Public Works Lou DiGuilio, who appears as a teenager in 1969 (4:16), considered possibly the oldest footage. Later appears the intact funhouse on the Casino Pier, which was destroyed in Hurricane Belle in August 1976, this footage is considered the newest. Appearing in this film are Tiny Tim of "Tip Toe Through the Tulips" fame (9:14) and Chief Halftown, Philadelphia-are Television entertainer (10:40).
Because of its target audience, this film is narrated in French. It was discovered in the archives of the Seaside Heights Borough Hall by Peter Smith, Director of the Office of Public Relations and converted to modern format by Joe Verderosa of Greenrose Media. A copy of the video was sent to Mrs. Linda Healy of Central Regional School District in Bayville, N.J., Peter Smith's former CRHS French teacher, now in a high administration job at the district. Mrs. Healy, fluent in French, agreed to translate the film EN ANGLAIS, TOUT DE SUITE.
Recently re-narrated in English by Dom Alagia. New audio edited by Greenrose Media, Joe Verderosa

  • i remember hurricane belle, tore up the boardwalk..

  • @rahbbayrahb420 Me too! I have pictures of an unrooted tree a few house away from where I currently live.

  • Live in Florida now, but going back to visit the boards this weekend after 18 years. Do any of you remember a place called Poor Pete's Pizza which had great pizza in the 1970's? They closed up in the early 80's I think. I miss crabbing on the bay, Spin Art, Click-Clacks, Charlie's Italian Sausage, Kohr's Orange Drink, and endless announcements over the boardwalk P.A. system of "Is anybody looking for..."

    GREAT TIMES!

  • Go to the 1960's video, its my most viewed film on jackbuster, so it should be easy to find. Poor Pete is in that film!

  • I often refer to myself at "Poor Pete"!

  • as someone who grew up in TR in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, this was a treat as i spent plenty of time in seaside. of course, i wanted to scream at the people in the ocean and the bay: HEY! wait til you find out what Toms River Chemical is dumping in the ocean you're in! Of course, i can't laugh about any of that - i am one of those people. i probably glow in the dark now because of it.

  • That pipe was in Ortley Beach, and it pumped out only the nicest imaginable chemical waste!!! :)

  • My parents took us as kids 1973-1982 and it was cool to watch this. I remember the swiss bobs and some of those space rides. I loved Kohrs, and in this vid its shocking to see how the register is right in the corner where anyone can rob them! I dont think I saw one non-white in this whole video though. in the late 80s it became known as 'sleaze-side' as more staten islanders came down.

  • @FansFiltration kohrs is still there, the bay is the cleanest ive seen it in years. i vacationed there every summer from 1970 to 1988. i live in pa now so i dont get there much anymore. i love it & miss it.

  • I remember when the Freeman's Carousel was only 50 cents to ride, today it's $2 to ride. The Beachcomber, The Greyhound Game at Lucky's Facination's, and other memories of Seaside. This is my SUMMER spot down The Jersey Shore, and only one hour from my home in Hamilton Township (Mercer County), NJ.

  • perv ginger lol

  • There's another story that mentions the train not rolling over but screaming past the Main Street Station in Seaside Park, witnesses told papers of a engineerless train passing by neighborhoods and stations where screams of death can be heard from the carriages until the train derails over the Mantolokin Inlet bridge, and the sea waters claimed them.
