The Netherlands now looks set to be the first country in the world where euthanasia, or mercy killing, is legal. MPs have voted to legalise a practice which has traditionally been tolerated. The Upper House now has to ratify the new law which could be in Place by next year. But the debate has polarised Dutch society, where many still oppose euthanasia.

  • It is purely selfish to keep someone alive, because you love her/him, be he/she wants to die because the pain is unbearable. Respect the choice of the person who wants to step out or hang on.

  • We put our animals down humanely, why not us humans. I support the right to die. No Government or my next door neighbor has any right to my choice to die. The death rattle is not graceful. I want the option.

I agree with you and hope it passes then becomes wouldwide.

  • The death rattle is not a humane way to go esp when he or she is in misery

living in pain or needs total care.

It should be a right to die humanely like they do for animals esp when the

    human wants it.

If the human does not want it and wants to be cared for with the death rattle

their are nursing homes they can be put in to be cared for till the death.

Good The more money we can take from the doctors and nurses is good

money saved from lining doctors pockets keeping the living dead alive.

Such as the cancer patients who want to die and end their pain and

disabled people who can't feed themselves, make transfers and don't

want to live in a nursing home.

Should have legal Euthanasia if they want it.

Double standard Animals get euthanasia but not humans.

The law should be Euthanasia for Animals and Humans.

    Doctors Exploit us.

  • @bugsaregod

How about sueing Doctors and Nurses For Forced Living In Pain

Lets Get A Group Of Pro Euthanasia, Cancer Patients and others

In Pain To Sue The Medical Association.

    I agree with you.

They treat animals better then humans What a disgrace.

  • Why are British dates reversed?

  • Euthanasia Takes money away from doctors and nerses. Save society(tax payers a lot of money.

  • Seriously I don't understand why people have so many problems with this issue.

It is the humane thing to do.

I was glad for my grandmother when she finally put out of her misery. She had been put into a coma because she was in pain. But living like that is not living at all.

Ofcourse I was sad she died. But it was the best thing that could have been done for her sake.

And btw... I do think that a dcotr can refuse to do it out of his own objections. but bring in another doctor then.

  • @robinxyz101,

is your brain stuck at 101? what a pathetic thing to say!

I have two life-limiting illnesses & I demand the right to legally ask a loved one to assist my death when I can no longer care for myself. That would be the greatest gift anyone could give me.But I do not wish for that loved one to face possible prosecution.Euthanasia MUST be legislated for!
