The only thing undeniably binding Americans is the Superbowl and blinding patriotism. As for a republic, most countries have a same concept for government. Monarchy's excist but Royals hardly have executing powers. True freedom=Freedom of speech, Religion, political inndependence, constraints,

The US does not excel in any.

@RayGroot I'm not stupid, I know about China and all the debt that we have with them.But we are closer to liberty and freedom, and closer to a Republic than any other country in the world. We lost sight of it, since progressive Karl Marx-type views took a foothold in the early 1900's. It hasn't gone away yet. But we don't hold your views that government solves everything. And if you REALLY looked at our history, you would know the truth. Sorry that you can't delve that deep.

Dont get me wrong, I am not for a second thinking or saying American workers caused the crisis, its a thing of culture that europe shares its part of as well, mainly supported from higher financial grounds/banks etc. In regards to America being on top I highly doubt it, there are new players arround the corner, I would like to say Europe but we are too divided, keep an eye out on Asia/China.
