Who cares if they don't leave? it's not like pet squirrels hurt anyone. Keeping a squirrel as a pet is about as harmful as keeping a gerbil or a rat

I'm on the jury deciding the fate of pompus people like you. I vote we put a shock collar on you and see how much zappin you can take! If I want to duct tape up my hamster for sweaty hamster bondage day, It's my choice living in America.

My son found a baby squirrel that fell from nest and he brought it home and we named it Sandy. We kept it and feed it with powder baby food and it loved it . Then every day we brought it out side with us and the baby would walk and run around with us. then month or two when by and it has gotten bigger and i brought sandy out to a very large tree to see if it would climb it and it did and that was the last we seen of Sandy I miss the lil thing.

I agree that humans should leave animals alone, but the problem here with invasive species is that a great many of them were introduced by people. It is my belief that because the problem was started by humans, unfortunetly (sic, I know) other humans have to come in and right the situation that was created by others. After all, isn't that why this little guy is still living?

Human preference for species has nothing to do with any animal's right to exist. Who do you think you are to decide any fate of another being. What if we decide that certain humans are undesirable and should not exist (oh wait that has been done). Let nature take care of itself, not tiny human perspective.
Also the Squirrel i found doesn't seem very smart or not very eager to leave. i thought he was ready to leave so i put him in a shoe box with a hole cut in it outside, and he stayed there for 6 hours before i brought him back in the house. Any Suggestions???

Hi jasonm621- I don't know what state you live in, but for most, including Washington State, it is technically illegal to care for wildlife at home unless you have a rehab license. Also, squirrels can bond with people, making it very difficult to release them to become "wild" again. At the appropriate time, we move ours out to a cage far away from people where they eat squirrel food and aren't around people. Please try and locate a local rehab center and take the squirrel there.
