The 2009 Race Across Michigan was a 182 mile relay by the University of Michigan Running Club across the state of Michigan. Starting on the east coast in Detroit, the team ran west to Lake Michigan. The team's goal was to run across the state in under 24 hours. The run raised money for Girls on the Run a program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. After 23 hours, 19 minutes, and 55 seconds the team arrived on the shore of Lake Michigan at 6 am on April 12, 2009.
