In this StreamFIT Minute, fitness bootcamp and metabolic training expert BJ Gaddour shows you the calves exercises that carves a killer core and cranks up the cardio.
This move is called the TRX Rip Trainer Pogo Jump Variation and trains something called ballistic core stability, or the ability for your abs to stabilize your spine during explosive limb action.
The pogo jump portion of the exercise smokes your calves and strengthens your achilles tendon while the asymmetrical one-side loading of the Rip Trainer forces your core to stabilize in all 3 planes of motion.
Be sure to perform the exercise from all 3 of the following orientations for best results: facing the anchor point (posterior chain), side facing the anchor point (lateral chain), and facing away from the anchor point (anterior chain).
Here's a great little 4-minute workout that will also get your cardio going big-time. Alternate between 30 seconds of work and 15 seconds of rest for 6 rounds in the following TRX Rip Trainer Pogo Jump Variation exercise order:
1- Facing Away from the Anchor Point (Left Side)
2- Facing Away from the Anchor Point (Right Side)
3- Side Facing the Anchor Point (Left Side)
4- Side Facing the Anchor Point (Right Side)
5- Facing the Anchor Point (Left Side)
6- Facing the Anchor Point (Right Side)
