Dr. James L. Campbell Jr., MD discusses Seborrheic Dermatitis in Adults. See more at http://www.dermnet.com PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!!
Seborrheic Dermatitis presents as moist, transparent to yellow, greasy scaling papules among red patches and plaques. Seborrheic Dermatitis usually favors areas where the concentration of

sebaceous glands is maximal such as the scalp margins, central face and presternal areas, Characteristic locations are the eyebrows, the base of eyelashes, nasolabial folds and paranasal skin,

and external ear canals. Scale adherent to the eyelashes and lid margins with variable amounts of erythema is characteristic of seborrheic blepharitis. Flexural skin may be similarly involved

including the postauricular, inguinal, and inframammary folds as well as the anogenital area.

Adults tends to have a chronic course with remissions and exacerbations. Flares are precipitated

by stress, fatigue, and seasonal climate change.

  • The story of my life. Now where is the video that tells you how to get rid of it?

  • SO HOW DO WE GET RID OF THIS TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SHIT!?? IT'S REALLY ANNOYING!!

Here's what I do: Get DANDRUFF shampoo, lather it onto my face and scalp daily, and leave for FIVE MINUTES. Then use KETOCONALE perscription cream which also help with the dryness of the shampooing. The cream only needs to be used when flare ups are bad, otherwise, try not to use it all the time.

Also, very important, SWITCH SHAMPOO ONCE PER MONTH, otherwise the SD get resistant to it, and that sucks.

  • I recommended a product to a friend of mine for his SD which is actually an acne treatment and he says it has made a massive difference. It is a product from England called Teenage Dream by Mama Nature. It was great or my acne and as the symptoms of SD are similar I thought it may help him. The main ingredients are jojoba oil and tea tree oil.I am spreading the word.

  • oh jesus i have this, hope this doesn't happen to me

  • Diet: Increase raw foods as part of an overall organic, whole foods diet. Also eat more salads and green vegetables, avoid fried foods, and significantly reduce your intake of fats, sugar, dairy products, chocolate, seafood, and nuts.

Flower Essences: Crab Apple can help with feelings of poor self-image due to dandruff.

Herbs: Rinse your hair and scalp with a strong infusion of nettle, sage, and rosemary, and drink a cup of nettle tea and take evening primrose oil (three capsules) daily.

  • Nutritional Supplementation:

The following nutrients are all useful for helping to prevent and reverse dandruff: vitamin B6, vitamin A, vitamin B complex, essential fatty acids (particularly omega-6), vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, and zinc. Kelp tablets can also help.

  • Topical Treatment: Soak your hair in a warm apple cider vinegar solution, the wrap your head in a towel. After one hour, wash your hair. In addition, you can apply vitamin E oil to your scalp each night for three weeks. Tea tree oil shampoo is also recommended.

  • @Harrysound - also check your pH levels (acid/alkaline). Those with skin conditions such as SD are often found to be highly acidic. Dr. Cabot's liver cleansing diet is very alkalizing, meaning she has you eating alkaline-rich foods and toning down acid-producing ones. Check out a book called, The Acid-Alkaline Diet by Christopher Vasey, N.D. for more information on this. Hope this helps.

  • @WildBill6942 You posted that on every damn video about this subject, I guess it worth a try.....roll on tomorrow

  • @separatesix - hi... I'm trying to send you a private message since it takes up way too much room to post on here but it says you have to make me your friend first... lol.

Send me a friend request and I'll forward you what I just wrote. Thank you! :)
