  • I really liked this performance. I am the fellow playing lead djembe in the group. Okay, so maybe the dance moves weren't the traditional moves for Sorsornet, but they were danced with real heart and soul by dance students that put their best into it. I'm real proud of all of the musicians in this group and the love and energy of the dancers went through the roof. Just enjoy it as a real spirited performance.

  • On behalf of Daphne's Divine Dance, I do apologize for not executing traditional Sorsonet African steps. I had no idea this was going to be placed online and evoke so much passion. We have since studied traditional steps, unfortunately those videos have not been uploaded and this one has gotten so many views. Please just try to enjoy the drums, singer and appreciate the artistic license. Again I'm so sorry.

  • Me ha encantado. muchas Gracias al que lo ha colgado

  • On the 'haters side': "One of the top African-American dance schools on long island"? African American dance? Is that a new hybrid of Hip Hop ;) ?

Go to Yousouf, Bemba, Djoniba, Mouminatou in the city.

On the LOVE side - it doesn't matter - NICE JOB! and thanks for putting yourself out there. Sorsonet is indeed a mask dance and I don't often see people adding that, and just because it's a variation doesn't mean it's flat out wrong. There's no original - the Africans know this.

  • Nice singing, but not Sorsornet movements. Nice dance though.

  • Sandy is fantastic he was our Master Drummer in Sherone Price's African Dance Class at UNCG when I was there... you have any idea where he is now?

  • The singer and the djembe were fantastic. Sorsonet is absolutely one of my favorite rhythms and dances to do. So I would really love to see the musical accompaniment for Sorsonet be accented by the traditional steps that go with it. It would be a fantastic connection. If either the singers or the dancers are up for the task, check out Marie Bass, Willes, or Yousouff Koumbassa, and a plethora of others. They both have web pages and are located in New York City!

  • Hey looks like Sandy(dirt)B. Bakare says hi from Germany miss drumming and all the UNCG crew. Great job to all-
