This is a real-time run, not TAS.

I use extreme luck manipulation in order to beat this computer-lab classic in a mere 4 minutes 13 seconds (from gaining click-control in Independence Missouri, until the "congratulations" screen first starts to appear). I utilized a TON of luck and put in many many attempts to get this time. I chose the Doctor because of the extra cash and the ability to aid sick/injured characters. I choose to have 1 companion (the main character can't die until after all other characters do, and this also prolongs the life of the main character over the course of the journey). More than 1 companion would mean a lot more text logs slowing the run down. I never stop to hunt or rest, I buy enough food at the start and rely on random "delays" to just barely keep my main character rested enough to stay alive. I also sink in the first 2 rivers (faster than getting across safely) without losing any oxen/lives which is extremely rare and very lucky.

PS: Sorry about the hourglass on the screen, just ignore it.

I used to play this game almost every day in computer lab in 4th grade or so, it was extremely entertaining to see "*person sitting right next to you* has died from exhaustion" pop up on screen. When all of your party member's died, you could leave a gravestone with custom text on the trail for other players to see when they passed-by such as: "Here lies Alec, he died like a helpless baby. N64 rules!".

  • wonder, could you move so slow that you don't finish the game until 1980 or something?

  • @cooldaddy1234567

I like the way you think.

  • @aleckermit you should try it then, i know I will

Don't finish in the 1970's, Willamette Valley might be full of dirty hippies.

  • Is this just for fun or is it for SDA? Come to think of it, does SDA even accept runs for these games?

Either way, it looks pretty awesome!

  • @BlueStarReturns

Yes, they do accept DOS runs but they have to be played on on the DOS OS with proper hardware.
