Published by Sopris West, Stepping Stones to Literacy is an effective, research-based program developed to give a leg up to children who have been identified as at risk for reading failure. Over the course of 25 interactive lessons, students learn the crucial skills necessary for reader fluency and come away from the program with a framework for reading comprehension that can be applied to all content areas. It is also effective with students who are transitioning into the English language.Practical and easy to implement, Stepping Stones is built around the fundamental qualities of good literacy education identified by the National Reading Panel and endorsed by Reading First and No Child Left Behind legislation.
The teacher response to Stepping Stones has been extremely positive. In this clip, co-author Ron Nelson describes some of the specific feedback he has received.
