Here's the lyrics, written Christmas 2001:

'Cheers'
\copyright 2002 Rand A. Colgan

This Christmas was different
the world is so strange
there's so many dying
or sick, or deranged,
but there's hope for the planet
in spite of these days...
the future is always
subject to change...

Now, we all want to know
what tomorrow will bring...
just more of the same,
or a completely new thing,
but in our minds we can see
as the days swiftly pass,
that whatever becomes in time,
never lasts...

But, there's a space in our time
where the world doesn't live,
between future and past,
between not and 'What if?'
In a moment of now,
before and hereafter,
in the sound of the breeze,
can't you hear Heaven's laughter?

And the joy and the pain
are all merged into one,
and the light of all life
still comes from the sun
with a love for all being
without precondition
rich man or poor man
or lifer, or politician.

Now each has his own
circumstance or situation
a myriad of souls
over too many nations...
but at the Source of all be-ing,
we all become one...
before that great vision
there's still work...
to be done.

(here comes the punchline)
My hope for the new year...
the spaceships will land...
I hope that they're musical,
I need a good band.
And I hope that George Double You
unveils his peace plan...
after he's finished bombing Afghanistan...

but there's always Indonesia,
Iran and Iraq,
Arafat, Ghaddafi,
even Idi Amin,
looks like a comeback...

Oops, there goes a terrorist
diguised as a rockstar...
and isn't that a Muslim
at the end of the bar?
You can bet he has gelignite
on the soles of his shoes!
A suicide bomber,
the bane of the Jews!

Well, it isn't their religion
that we want to attack...
just everybody knows
that the Lord's coming back!
Yes, when the need is great,
then Krsna appears,
or Jesus, or Buddha,
or Salasi, so CHEERS!
And charge all your glasses
with spirits and beer,
and pray like the devil
that we all make it through
the New Year.

Cheers
