Jack Hargreaves ~ Horse vet

Jack makes the case for investing in a vet's certificate when buying a horse, and shows an example of the work of a vet - unnamed to respect a professional convention not to advertise a service - whom JH regarded as "one of the finest horse vets in the south of England". This is part of an 'Old Country' episode made by my stepfather, Jack Hargreaves, for Channel 4 in the early 1980s. Introducing the programme Jack speaks of leaving the farm, going up to London to the Royal Veterinary College, and discovering how much he still had to learn about horse anatomy as a student under Professor James McCunn - a brilliant vet who also held a medical degree and an exceptional teacher who died in 1969.
I apologise in advance for the quality of the film, an apology already made by the generous viewer who recorded this part episode at the time it was broadcast (hence the missing title sequence. "Didn't turn on the recorder in time!".) and sent it to me.
