One year ago today the stimulus bill was passed and signed by Obama. This $787 Billion dollar spending spree is an example of what is wrong with Washington today.
A negative campaign is one that focuses on an opponent's failure, instead of on one's own merits. I have yet to witness any of Jim Bridgewater's merits, especially in this ad. Political campaigning should not be about pointing out failures, but in offering solutions. This ad offers no solutions - it only points out failures.
Look how dishonest this ad is! It accuses Senator Bennett of "wasteful spending" and then creates the impression that he supported the stimulus and requested the money for Sudanese dancing and campsite weeds. It doesn't explicitly say, however, that Bennett requested funds for those things. Why? Because he didn't. But Bridgewater wants you to think he did.
Bait and switch. Dishonest. Tim Bridgewater for Senate.
Personally, I think it's important that we the voters know what is going on. If someone doesn't point out how a public official is acting and voting for, then no one knows. And if we attack those who do it for "negative campaigning," when really it is pointing out differences, then we are just putting our head in the sand. If you like Bennett, point out his merits, not Bridgewater's willingness to take him on.
Bennett voted against the stimulus. This is the same nasty Tim Bridgewater whose crappy attack ads against John Swallow lost him two Republican primaries in a row.
Since when is showing how tax dollars are spent and pointing out differences in an opponent negative? Bridgewater, Eager, and Lee are all running against an incumbent expect differences to be pointed out. I did not see a single personal attack in this ad.
This video does nothing to change my view of Senator Bennett's public service nor of Obama's. It does, however, demonstrate Bridgewater's intent to campaign using negative ads, something I am opposed to almost as much as I am opposed to reelecting Bennett.
We'll see how successful negative campaign ads prove to be in this particular race.
Negative ads are more condemning for the promoter of the ad than the object of the ad, in my view.

Um, didn't Swallow lose to Matheson? After spending $500K on attack mailers against Tim? Yeah, that's honesty for you.

No thanks.

So does this mean you're going after Jason Chaffetz, who also requested stimulus money?

This isn't an attack ad. This is pointing out why Bridgewater does not support the stimulus and why he is running against the incumbent Bob Bennett.
