Goodwood 2008 Cacklefest

This is the Cacklefest at Goodwood Festival of speed 2008.

It shows a display of dragsters from the 1920's onward, being started and revved up.

You can't understand how loud it is until you stand right next to them. You could literally feel the vibrations in your chest as they idled there, and it became almost uncomfortable when they were revved up.

The dragster directly in front of the camera produced around 2500hp.

This is a good video but you have got it a bit wrong. The earliest car there is no-where near 1920's but they are still very old. They only started making purpose built drag racers in the late 50's.

Thanks though because this is a great video displaying the awesome power of these machine.

Shame they don't make dragsters that look like that anymore!

That was just incredible. The nitro-methane fumes made you cough and cry. The noise rocked the ground and sent people running for cover- it was just awesome to see it there.

I would love to see them let a top fuel dragster out there to do a couple burnouts...... It would take too long to clear all the smoke out though.
