Looking for what you want in a sea of online information can sometimes lead to frustration. But the growing 'semantic web' aims to make more sense of the data by describing and linking datasets so that computers can identify connections between them and return more meaningful search results. Prof Stefan Decker, Director of the SFI-funded Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) at NUI Galway talks about the research at DERI which is an internationally recognised institute in semantic web research, education and technology transfer.
