Alton sets out to show that you don't have to go out to get an authentic-tasting gyro (say "yee-ro"), the "best sandwich in the world." Learn how to form the mysterious gyro loaf. Also, selecting a rotisserie -- the best way to cook a gyro loaf -- and mixing up the finishing touch, tzatziki sauce.

  • It is a U.S. version. When we assimilate a food we alter it to suit the more mainstream tastes and traditions. Authentic or not, it's what we think of when you say Gyro. As long as it tastes good, who cares what it's called in the end?

  • "You even get a cute little carry handle *weird throat noise* lets take this for a spin shall we?" ALTON YOU ROCK!

  • love the hat

  • This show is gonna make me so fat. I <3 you Alton. I named a cat after you.

  • @Ibringthetruth No, a gyro can be any sandwitch made with veal, lamb, pork, or even Chicken. No, 90% of international Greek owned restaurants do not use lamb steaks because it is too hard to procure large bits lamb in other areas. Will 90% of people ever taste a quote real unquote gyro as you describe it? No! Is this a close second? I prefer it. And lastly, why use steak? You have to cut it thin, you use roast. Idiot.

  • Wrong Alton.

    Not a damn meatloaf.

Look at right side for vid "how gyro is made".

  • I recently asked someone from Greece about the authenticity of American gyros. He told me that in Greece they are definitely a bit different. The big difference that he told me was that they serve them with fries on top. The meat is a bit looser which I think would mean that it's not a "pressed" type of meat like it is in America. Just thought that was interesting.

  • @nineof8 others countries do the same thing, and have been for hundreds of years

  • what IDIOT dislikes Good Eats??????
