These kind of LSA crashes are quite common, no matter if its a student pilot or an ATP with 20,000 hours. The sleek carbon-fiber or carbon-kevlar construction compounded with the long, high aspect ratio (low wing-loading) wings mean that you have to hit all of your speeds and altitude points around the pattern dead nuts or you can create a dangerous stituation. If it doesn't look good, just go around. I read the NTSB report and that is what happenend here.
