Built on a 6 hectare site and completed at the end of 2005, Villa Haaswijk, a villa with a volume of 1200m3, is surrounded by the woods of the Veluwe. The two commissioners wanted a villa with a separate office space, and the possibility to create two Bed & Breakfast apartments.
The realisation of this design was inspired by the barns of the Veluwe region, and has a recreational character. The villa is composed of two, separate units which are linked by a glass roof over the whole length of the house. This has the added advantage of increasing the amount of daylight which reaches the heart of the building, something which important for a house in the woods. The left-hand unit is for private use, and the right-hand side for 'business' purposes. The design was developed from the inside out, so that all the rooms are clearly and logically linked to each other. The floor plan is certainly not traditional, in particular due to the central meeting area, but also because the house has no front or back. In reality, this villa has two front doors.
The occupants enjoy their unusual villa every day.
