An instructional video on how to make your own sushi using my own method. This is not the "traditional" way to make sushi, and it really leaves a lot up to you what you want to put in the roll. For those of you just who want to make some sushi to eat at home, this is for you. If you want the more traditional, Japanese style, maybe I'll make another video for that sometime, if I get any demand for it.

Additional Tips
1. When cooking rice in a rice steamer, put a little more water than required to make the rice perfect for sushi.
2. Add a little butter to the rice to negate some of the effects of liquid rice vinegar, and to add more flavor
3. egg is also a good ingredient to add to sushi. Make a few omelette-like patties, and cut the egg in strips
4. when using soy sauce as a side, mix a little wasabi in for flavor
5. let rice cool a little before spreading it on the seaweed, but not too much or it makes it difficult.
6. after you make the sushi, put it in the refrigerator to cool before you eat it. this also brings out the flavor of the added vegetables/ingredients
7. Other suggestions for ingredients include cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, carrots...lots of vegetables compliment sushi.
8. Try different dipping sauces. Salsa con queso is surprisingly good with sushi.

  • @Russianchick222

Oh, good! I'm glad it helped someone. It was just something I put together really quickly since so many people were asking me how I make sushi. :)

  • YOU CAN'T THIS, BECAUSE YOU AREN'T AN ASIAN TT____TT

  • @Katarachen

Okay...then you can't speak English, because you are Asian. :P

  • Where Can I buy the wood thing to shape the sushi in the end? also what kind of rice do I use?

  • @crisgomez123

I rarely use the sushi mat, because it rolls just fine if you know what you're doing. You can get the bamboo or wooden rolling mats at any asian market, though. Most rice will work fine, but white rice is the easiest, because it retains water better than brown rice, so it tends to be stickier, which makes it easier to roll.

  • thanx so much :)

  • Cool vid thanks for sharing your simple method. May not be "traditional" but it works just fine, quick and clean.. I've been making rolls with tuna I catch for about a year now and half the fun is doing them up your own style. So, 1st time sushi makers, my advice is not to get too hung up what's "traditional". Nice touch w/ the music at the end... sounded like completing Level 9 Maki Rolls on Nintendo
