Canadia Bank PLC has a very humble beginning - poverty. It was started by a former refugee from Cambodia (a Cambodian Teochew nang) who settled in Canada. It didn't started out as a bank, it was a small company set up to help oversea Cambodian-Teochew people to send money to relatives in Cambodia who were living under extreme poverty conditions in the 80's. Soon, words spread, most oversee Cambodian-Teochew people used this company to send money to relatives, and then other Cambodians started to use it to send money to relatives in Cambodia as well. The amount of money that oversea Teochew and Khmer people send to poor relatives in Cambodia swelled up to a quarter million USD per month,... The Cambodian government at the time saw that the country need that kind of influx of money and other investments from oversea for Cambodia development... So with the encouragement of Cambodian government, several hundreds Cambodian-Teochew living in Canada raised about $350,000, mostly $1,000-$5,000 per checks, together with $150,000 raised in Cambodia, and so Canadia Bank PLC was officially started.

At the beginning, Canadia Bank PLC was just a small bank competing with much more established foreign banks or their branches that were setup in Cambodia, but in 1997 there was a semi-civil war broke out in Cambodia, those banks closed their shops and their bosses packed their luggages and left the country...only Canadia Bank stayed and continued to service the struggling small business communities during that turbulent time...and in a nutshell, that was how Canadia Bank won the trusts of the Cambodian people and business communities...Today, Canadia Bank is the most successful privately owned bank in Cambodia with 24 branches in the country and growing.

  • To All Teochew Nang:

    1. Please understand that the so-called economy is like a lake water, there are so many big fish that the lake can support before the small fish are gobbled up by the big fish population. When the big fish has no small fish to eat, they too will die off.

    2. In U.S. 90% of fresh big fish or game fish are artificially introduced by their "fish and wildlife" leading to the extinction of native fish species. Top 1% r filthy rich, 90% are poor.

    Don't be stupid like fish.

  • @chapsroc CORRECTION:

    2. In US, 90% of big fish or game fish are artificially introduced by their "Fish and Wildlife Department", these non-native invasion large fish species ate up all the smaller native fish species and/or their natural food chain which lead to the extinction of those native fish species in the majority of U.S. water bodies.

  • Almost all teochews in south east asia are businessmen

  • @SuperKumantong , not quite "almost", what you observe is that there are many Chinese business owners in S.E. Asia, but if you observe closely, each one of those business owners employ several employees, of which some of them are Chinese. Thus, needless to say, for each Chinese "business owner" family, there are at least 10 Chinese families that are not business owners, that is to say they work for companies or businesses to earn a living.

  • @chapsroc What I can say is teochew youngsters in Singapore are "school" brain-washed to have Working Class Mindset. I went to Shantou 1st time to visit my relatives and realize most Teochews Youngsters ( late 20s and early 30s already open shops and small production plants) there are Business minded and their workers are from other parts of China.

  • @SuperKumantong YOU'RE A TYPICAL STUPID SHANTOU DOG, YOUR STUPID BRAIN WAS TRAINED TO LIE LIKE MOST OF THOSE DUMBASS SHANTOU COMMIE DOGS. LIKE MOST SHANTOU COMMIES, YOU'RE TOO STUPID.

SHANTOU CITY HAS A POPULATION OVER 6 MILLION PEOPLE, YOUR SO-CALL "BUSINESS PEOPLE" IN SHANTOU DOWNTOWN IS BUT A FRACTION OF 1% (MANY OF THEM ARE HAKA PEOPLE), WHICH MEANS 99% OF SHANTOU RESIDENTS ARE DIRT POOR FARMERS AND WORKERS OR UNEMPLOYED.

GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND RE-TRAIN YOUR STUPID BRAIN TO THINK OR STFU!

  • @SuperKumantong , FYI, (just in case you're ignorant and not just a stupid liar), I will never forgive those blood sucking Shantou commies for what they did to Chaoyang people, literally divided and chopped up the former Chaoyang county.. polluted their lands and water, the Lianjiang River was dead for decades now, and the water is black and stinky. Chaoyang Gui-yu Village is literally the world largest e-waste village, up to 80% of villager children have heavy metals toxic in their blood.

  • @chapsroc I think I know why they are aiming so high on this! Hollywood also plans to make a movie on the Khmer Empire next year! Also the Islands off the coast of Cambodia are among the best in Asia!

  • @chapsroc Hey that sounds interesting! Thankx for the info! I knew it was something about the 5 elements of Chinese culture thus why they chose to build a 555 meter tower! You should be proud of the Teochew Nang in Cambodia! They are making a comeback against the Korean developers lolz!

  • @khmerpreah401 , yeah, half a kilometer into the air. Hey, I got some info on the number '5'. In ancient China, there was a system of thought called "ngouhang" or “五行“ which states that there are 5 primary elements (or forces) in the universes, they are gold, wood, water, fire, and dirt. It is the interaction among these 5 elements set the universe in cyclical motion, etc.

    Well, "ngou-hang" also sounds like "row of 5s" , ngou=5, hang=row. "555" three 5s in a row, hah? :)
