  • the absent of the proprietor is an interesting choice. I m a purist. a lot of changes to the original score. if there is any musical that should not have "choreography" it is without a doubt "Assassins." good effort but a lot of the undercurrents of the piece are misunderstood or lost.

  • Being a purist usually means knowing something about the original show, in which the proprietor is not present in this song. You seem to only be familiar with the revival, in which the proprietor IS in this song, which does not fare well with most Assassins "purists".

  • Hey,I've never actually seen the show, but I'm a huge Sondheim fan (incredibly happy you put this up!) Is the Balladeer supposed to be Oswald? Or was that changed or something?

    Thanks so much :D

    -Impromptu Hippie (on another's account)

  • yep! The assassins turn him into Oswald and it goes directly into the texas book depository scene. I read in an article that sondheim himself said it was effective if the balladeer and oswald were the same person, because then the audience loses the one person in the show that they could relate to and they see how anyone could become an assassin.

  • If you've got a full video, let me know, I would love to see it!

  • the full show is actually on here, but in segments. They should all be on my home page! :o)

  • Wow. This is great, the whole performance.

It's not perfect but, then again, Sondheim musicals are notoriously difficult, and you guys pulled off like professionals.

  • Wow, this is fantastic. I've been looking for footage of the actual show for a long time, and I was certainly satisfied after watching this. I especially liked the Sam Byck. Bravo!

  • i did this in my high school last year, n this brings back lots of great memories... you guys did a stand up job! (much better than we did lol)

  • this is such a hard song. ARGH! you pulled it off.

  • A really good job of making this sound like a Sondheim group number! Really great singing. I'm glad the girls didn't force-sing to be heard. Great balance. I especially liked the Balladeer!

    But, one thing...choreography?

  • You have the whole musical, but its not in an easy-to-peruse format. If you could post a little guide, or arrange a chronological playlist, people would be able to see the whole thing.

  • awsome. really good rendition. i haven't seen this segment of the play before

  • I saw the show twice in London and about 20 times on Broadway a few years back, and I have to say, what you guys did on that stage is nothing short of brilliant. The entire ensemble was perfect, nobody really went over the top, great movement. Perfect Sara Moore, great Guiteau. Congrats on an amazing production of one of the hardest shows.
