I watched this as a kid, I dont even know what happened to the tape but I've been looking for it forever. The bad guy in this scared me quite badly when I was a little kid.

what I wouldn't do for a remastered version of these cartoons. I had the exact tape you speak of. Nowadays all the sissy parents would say "EEGAD NO! WE CAN'T EXPOSE OUR CHILDREN TO THIS! IT'LL TEACH THEM TO MOCK LITTLE PEOPLE" and all that BS.

This story comes from an actual Irish folktale. The only difference is in the original story, the leprechaun leads the man to a ragwort plant in a field and the man ties a ribbon around it to mark it.
Then of course he comes back with a shovel and finds a ribbon around all the plants in the field.

Out of interest- what tape did this come off of?
It came off a vhs tape called Cartoon Classics Cinderella. It has 4 cartoons on it including "Wee Men". The Cinderella in question is actually "A Coach for Cinderella". Released in 1987 by New Age Video. Also includes "Cobweb Hotel" and "Boy Meets Dog".

I can understand your confusion, as Wee Men is called Leprechauns Gold in some places, but they are two distinctly different caetoons, released in different years.
Wee men was released in 1947 and was about the leprechauns guarding their crock of gold(and making shoes of course). The Leprechauns gold was about the annual gold washing the leprechauns do. It was released in 1949. I hope this helps.
