I've been spending hours wandering how you are suppose to prop the sachet up in the microwave ahah. Here's a tip to take into consideration in the future, make the guidelines on the box say "Tip contents into bowl, then proceed to fill the sachet with milk up to the fill line" It doesn't really make it clear if you're suppose to put the milk in the sachet WITH the oats, or without.

Who is hating on porridge? Man better know.

@janesdroid You can make it with water, but it won't have the same creamy texture unless you add some powdered milk. You can make Quaker Qats in a pot outdoors. However, for extra ease you could try using our Porridge Pots instead. Just add hot water for delicious porridge.

Can you use water instead of milk? If so, can the oats be cooked in a pot outdoors?

i have an oats so simple bowl and have found that the new packets with the line on for the amount of milk to add does not correspond to the amount of milk you add in the bowl. is there any reason why these amounts are different

Im glad other people have commented on how useless the instructions on the box are. I went to Quakers website to email them & ask how to make the stuff and saw a link to an instruction video. How utterly ridiculous to have the only prep guide on a youtube film. Why on earth can't you put instructions on the box. I tried filling the pouch with the oats still in..too dry..I tried filling the pouch with the oats poured out..too soggy..Please just stop with the inane gimmicks and WRITE IT ON THE BOX!

I have just come online to figure out how to use the microwaveable Oat's So Simple, for exactly that reason. Can't believe that a company goes out of its way to advertise a new and improved product, while simultaneously annoying so many of their customers. Why, pray tell, would I need to search the internet for cooking instructions on a product I have just purchased? So ridiculous.

Hopeless! The packaging includes almost no useful instructions. What little guidance there is turns out to be rubbish. However much you stir/leave to stand, the recommended amount of milk is far too much, unless you want soup. This is not a problem of microwave wattage. I would advise reducing the milk content to around half the suggested amount - you can always add more, especially as the resulting mush will be hot enough to sear your mouth permanently.

I have seriously never come across a product that has such DIRE cooking instruction on it. The worst thing is, people have been commenting on this for over a year now, and not only have you done NOTHING about it, you haven't even answered the questions here ?? Following even the basic instruction, it comes out watery. Would you like us all to do our own videos of this and post them on here for all to see ??????
Sorry that you weren’t happy with the results of your Oat So Simple. We do try and make cooking instructions which are clear and give results which please everyone, but of course people like their porridge in different ways. One tip might be to use a smaller bowl, as using large bowls can sometimes affect the cooking time. We hope that you’re enjoying your porridge on these chilly mornings.

I'm going to ask a simple question now. How many grams of oats should be in the packet that is tipped into a bowl, and how many ml of milk do you expect would fill the bag up to the fill line.

The nutritional information on the side of each box of Oat So Simple details the standard serving size of oats and milk. Each serving is around 33-34g and around 180ml of milk should be used. We hope this helps you. Please note that other varieties of Oat So Simple such as the Indulgent range differ slightly.

Sorry to hear that. Your microwave should be on 800 watts to cook the Oat So Simple in 2 minutes. If you're having problems with it spilling over as it cooks then try using a larger bowl.
