A raw, live and lo-fi rendition of a song from my 2nd solo album (Andy Witmyer - The Daylight Astronomer). To listen to a studio version of this and other songs that I've made, please go here: www.myspace.com/wittywitmyer
This song is fairly depressing and when I wrote it, I was feeling uncomfortably detached from most things - love and life - and found myself wishing I was a certain someone's cat. Haven't we all been there at one time or another!?! (tThis song is respectfully dedicated to Syd Barrett, Peter Steele, and all other artists who are gone but not forgotten)
TO ENVY A CAT
Cats on her lap
She's not coming back
Gone to the bridge
Crouched on the ridge
I watched you fall you down- down
Douse the flames
She's not the same
Show me clouds
I'll show you the sun
I watched you fall down- down
She haunts the bridge by the lake
She haunts the bridge by the lake
You never should have wasted your time
She's got another man waiting in line
It's a funny thing to do - to envy a cat
A kitten that's asleep on her lap
Cold church bells ring - there's gray light in the sky
In Autumn's orange red glow we'll say our goodbyes
Goodbye
(c)2007-2010 all lyrics and music written by Andy Witmyer. Please don't steal this song - it's hard enough being a starving artist and making nothing from my music! : D
