Health insurance isn't like homeowner's insurance or car insurance because not everyone owns a home or a car.
Everyone has a body though (lest we forget) If someone goes without homeowner's insurance or car insurance you may lose your privilidge to own a home or automobile.
If someone can't afford health insurance they are giving up their (god given?) right to live a healthy and decent life.
I'm all for a government run system. Get rid of the private system or let it die like you said. You're right in asking why employers should be the ones to provide health insurance. It's as if to say that only people who work 40 hours a week deserve to be healthy. Well anyone who isn't healthy inevitably puts a strain on the entire system Am I right?
Wouldn't it have been nicer just to give her a card and say go get your damn teeth cleaned? She could have died. Plus the hospital had to absorb that cost.
I know someone who never had dental insurance. She would often get toothaches. Eventually she saw a dentist (at the free clinic of course) and they told her that she must go to the emergency room immediately. The infection in her mouth was starting to spread to her brain. She ended up requiring surgery and a month in the hospital at a cost of a quarter of a million dollars.
I hope I'm actually speaking to someone.

Only the ones with CASH shall survive? That's one way to weed out the population of "slackers."

Also, are you a proponent of Social Darwinism?

I still don't understand why a government run system would cause long wait times. Can you clarify that?

And I'm not talking about dollar values.

All you jokers talk about is money. How about talking about our values as human beings?
