The definition of the word "dunk" is as follows- Dunk-A shot made by jumping and slamming the ball down through the basket There is NOTHING in the definition that states that the player must touch the rim in any way. The thesaurus also states a dunk as follows- dunk shot- a basketball shot in which the basketball is propelled downward into the basket. Once again, no mention to touching the rim. Synonyms for dunk shot are dunk and stuff shot.
