Nokia USB Monitor

Nokia Research created this video of their developments, with video out through USB. Specifically USB out to a monitor for desktop uses of Maemo. This has great implications for the N900, becoming your pocket desktop PC.

Will this program work on N900? N900 doesn't support OTG though. Beside this project is rumour to be abandoned by Nokia right now. Is it true?

This was only and R&D project it was never released for the N810.

The N900 does support video out (wired) and also there is also support for DLNA.

yeah but video out on N900 is using standard AV cable. Which is not HD, it is SD. If the N900 capable of running full HD through USB port then it would be great. Is not someone out there taking this project personally or privately as a community wide?

None of the code has been released, however you can still watch HD videos on your TV, via your N900, if your TV is DLNA compatible, or you can play XviDs on USB drive (many newer TVs can)

Brisa Media Server is the closest thing to this project, so if you're that interested, there are tools to accomplish similar tasks

Yeah, you'll notice that I said "implications" I posted this video shortly before Nokia World 2009. The N900 DOES have video out and a uPnP server/client though, so most of this is possible

Yup, if it works in N810, it will work with the N900.
