US President Barack Obama has faced questions over attempts to extradite a British student accused of breaking American copyright laws.

Richard O'Dwyer, 23, set up the TVShack website which US authorities say hosted links to pirated copyrighted material.

Richard's mother Julia told Newsbeat that he had not broken any UK laws and President Obama had given a typical politician's answer in response to questions about his case.

President Obama was taking part in an online Q and A session organised by Google.
