  • I had this DBS operation in 2006 for my Idiopathic Dystonia and I can say without a doubt that it is an incredible technology!!!

  • So kewl!!!

  • He sounds like jet li

  • how much do you get payed

  • @SuperWarking If medication and therapy are not working for you, then another excellent option is electroshock therapy. This is not the electroshock therapy that you see in movies, it happens while you are sedated and is particularly effective in those for whom medication is ineffective. I would try that before DBS because it is less invasive and because DBS is less conclusive on therapeutic effects for depression than electroshock. Talk to your doctor about it.

  • Seriously thinking about this for my depression suggestions?

  • This is a follow up to my April 15th DBS Surgery on April 15th. It is 4 months later and I am still disappointed in the results of the surgery not giving me as much relief from Parkinsons symptons that I had hoped for. However, even though I am disappointed I do not regret my decision to have the $97,000 surgery which my health insurance paid a lot of this because the surgery brought back my ability to drive a car again. Just before surgery I could not drive a car at all but can now.

  • I had DBS surgery on April 15th with the brain implant and the followup surgery on April 29th with the battteries implanted. I felt much improvement in my Parkinsons symptons just after the April 15th surgery but it was only temporary.

My device was programmed May 2nd as well as twice later in May and the implanted DBS device has disappointingly done very little to improve my condition so it seems to work well on most people who have had the surgery but I am one of the few exceptions.

  • I had the DBS brain implant on April 15th and the electronics/ battery portion installed on April 29th and was very pleased at what turned out to be only temporary was a great improvement in my Parkinsons symptons after my first surgery and the deivce was not even activated yet but it was on May 2nd and I am very disappointed so far in the results. I am only very slightly improved in my condition from before surgery and I am one of the few who has DBS surgery

    without any real improvments..

  • Yes, it worked for my brother! He was unable to drive, walked like he was 90, had weak voice, and was getting progressively more miserable in the last 5 years. They have not implanted the electronics control package yet but he has made 100% improvement overnight. The joke is that we are asking the Doctor to install the Party Animal Chip as well as the Outlaw Biker Chip. Yes. we can joke about it now! Next week he gets the electronics and battery pack installed in his chest. He is very pleased!
