My score run of the new Touhou game demo that was released earlier this month. Interesting new mechanics, albeit a bit weird... it seems easier now to do high scores on lower difficulties, unless you truly master the higher difficulty.

The whole focus is into correctly chaining the little UFOs. So it matters less if you die, but the frustration is now when your 3xBlue UFO is flying away with all your point items and you can't kill it in time. Graze also doesn't seem to matter as much, which is a bit sad. But the game is still enjoyable overall.

  • Nope, you are rather given the flexibility of choosing whether you prefer having more lives/bombs or more points by gathering the correct color of UFOs. So it means you need to master pretty much the whole game if you want the highest possible score (i.e. 3 lives clear).

    Also, I could have gotten a much better score if I used multi-colored UFOs at the end of stages where tons of power items are available. (I did not know at the time they were converted to point items for that type of UFO)

    But points can no longer give you 1-ups?

    That kinda sucks..

    Even though you can get many 1-ups from UFOs if you try..
