@sorryforlongcomment think of it as a whip. which end of the whip goes faster. also, it isn't so much a matter of it going faster as it is a matter of having more time with that speed because as the front of the train goes over the top the back is still preventing it from picking up speed whereas when the back of the train goes over the top, it has the front of the train already over the hill to pull it over faster

just to make that one comment i left clearer. the front isn't the only driving force. every part starts to give it a little extra push when it's going down hill.
