She interviewd the likes of judy garland bette davis johnny carson liz taylor and now..........shes interviewing of all people the kardashians and snooki? Of all people.

I don't think Barbara is a bad interviewer. I actually envy her -- look at the legends she met! (I mean like those mentioned in the video, not the "celebrity" trash we have today). Anyway, Kate did bring it up first and answers the question really well and doesn't seem to find it weird or anything... In fact, if i were to meet a legend like Katie I'd want to ask her some interesting questions like that too instead of the usual humdrum.

How did this ever enter the public consciousness as a mistake? Hepburn clearly describes herself as a tree before the question is even posed.

The light in Katharine's eyes when she describes an oak tree is wonderful... you can tell she really loved oak trees.

i think it's kind of silly to ask questions like these, but i don't think that Barbara Walters is a bad interviewer. i think she had a respectful and interesting way to talk to those legends like Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Johnny Carson etc.

Such a shame the kind of people she's interviewing now. Nothing can compare to the stars of yesteryear.

OMG Barbara Walters is such a douche, shes one of the worst interviewers ever!

@nandesneto lol true
Katharine was just too intelligent and independant as a woman of her generation to be fully understood by anyone in the media, she threatened the status quo and attempts to pigeonhole such a unique woman will always fail.

while I admit that Barbara did ask the silliest interview question i've ever heard; I am sort of thankful she asked that question because now I know Katharine's favorite tree and its just pleasing to know those little facts about poeple you admire.
Plus Johnny Carson was right on the mark by his comment about being a tumbleweed (that's what made him such a good late-night host)
