Gunmen kill 11 in Guyana village - 27 Jan 08

Police have offered a reward of $150,000 to help find the killers of 11 people in the South American nation of Guyana.

Many of the victims - including five children - were shot dead while they were still in bed.

Guyana's president described the leaders of the massacre as 'animals'.

I've just read several of the comments made in regards to this video. Its quite sad how even now, racism still exists. I am an Indian Guyanese, and in reality, I think events from the past have caused many Indian guyanese to be more racist toward the black guyanese population currently. In response to this stereotype, every race will have its share of racism, but us Indian Guyanese individuals need to forgive and forget, and realize that we are all equal.

@sweetlywicked69 Although the African continent is noted for having a high crime rate, please remember that crime in Africa is due to major poverty. Not to mention dictatorship and political struggles that were all caused by European and North American nations or what they call the "developed world." Don’t fall victim and discriminate against your own peoples. All of our ancestors who came from the “undeveloped world” were only victims of imperialist from America and Europe.

@sweetlywicked69 Sorry I just had to write a comment. I get your premise but your facts are extremely incorrect. First of all 60% of the world population is Asian, Asia in a continent not a country; thus it’s impossible for India to comprise 50% of the worlds population. China-India together compromise a population of 40%. Furthermore peoples from the Middle East aren’t ethnically or culturally Indian. Learn ratios and you would realize based on people/crime, Africa has the highest crime rate.

It's sad to read all the discriminatory messages, it's wrong to accuse all Afro-Guyanese people of being murderers but what can't be denied is the fact that these murders were done at random. Yet the only people, who were murdered, were people of Indo-Guyanese decent. Many of us respect the African community but we’re no blind at crimes against humanity and racially motivated criminal acts. Look at the video comments, you will see both races have their prejudices. You make us look ignorant.

"Coolie" is a racist term, used by black Guyanese to discriminate against Guyanese of Indian ancestry. Many Afroguyanese are jealous because Indians are more succesful. Of course, they claim this is due to racism. But dancing and sexuality isn`t enough to have a decent life.

To all u morons, Read (if u can). Guyana was ruled for a very long time (20 years or so, till he died) by a very stupid BLACK man. He economically devastated the country, align the country with Russia during the COLD WAR, took our money from 3 to 1 U.S. to over 200 to one. He took Guyana to the bottom of the economic pool in the western hemisphere only Haiti is behind. 95 out of every 100 murders was a Black man killing a indian, and 95 out of 100 robberies was a Black man robbing a indian
