She has good tone and clarity of voicing, nice playing per se -- but interpretation? She makes this romantic, fiery music of a brilliant youth sound depressed and lifeless. First movement is lyrical and very semplice, but OK, it works. Second, a minuet, is just too slow and stiff, doesn't "dance." The dramatic recitativo fugato doesn't "speak" and lacks drama; the rest is slow and stiff. The finale, in Gypsy style, is much too slow and utterly without fire.

I do know this piece, but I never heard this pianist before. I agree with you, it's a very authentic and beautiful interpretation.

I like it although the opening is hard to play lyrically and she played it too fast

@maxjamesorgans She didn´tt played it too fast, sorry. Do you know Mendelssohn well? And Schic? She is extremely lyrical on her conception of music. This record is prototipical, I know something about Mendelssohn and in fact i play some works by him, including this sonata. Absolutelly, it´s not fast, it exquisite and sophisticated.

@liverpool15061995 Are you young? Naïve? Schic was one of the best interpreter of Mendelssohn works ever. Really. You can confirm it with searching in serious libreries... Sorry, it´s not exactly about you, what let me sad. It´s the fact that the french people, so prolific in Arts doesn´t remember the names so importants like Schic. She was a legend and was very famous because some facts: 1. She used to accept only very, very good pianists as pupils.2. She recorded the complete works by

@liverpool15061995 works by Gershwin, Mendelssohn and Villa-Lobos, who gave her advices how to play ALL his musics. She was the first to recorded the entire work of him. She studied with Marguerite Long and Lazare-Levy.
Well, I´ve said naïve because you hesitated a bit to say that she played better then that man. She was legendary and he....oh, sorry, he doesn´t understand the music. It´s a performance of a student. I have a lot of recordings of her (environs 30cds). You can say if you like:)
