This video will show you how to Increase a stitch with a "Yarn Over." A Yarn Over usually is shown abbreviated in a pattern as "yo".

Follow along and see how easy it is to actually do! Anyone can learn to knit and it's a great craft to know if you want to give handmade gifts! A simple large knitted rectangle is essentially an afghan. By combining the Knit and Purl stitches, you can create a wide variety of patterns.

  • Ooooh, what kind of knitting needles are the ones she is using in the videos? They look very smooth.

  • They're bamboo. They cost a few dollars more but I find they're more comfortable to use.

  • This is really good and easy to follow. In this book it says something about a knit way of increasing stitches which is different to this. What could that be?

  • Yes there are several different ways. I'll add some other ways to my list of videos to-do so you can see them!

  • maybe you should mention that there will be a hole in your garment every place where you increased a stitch. That would have been helpful.

  • YO Increase:

    1. Loop the yarn over the needle to the front of the work and then knit the rest of the stitches.

    2. On the next row, work into the front loop of this strand (yarn over) as you would any other stitch, transferring it from the left needle after it is knitted.

    You have added one stitch.

This will take care of the hole from the yarn over
