Yep, he did use the idea and used the music, but still the animation is perfectly done.
There are genres in music and nobody cares how many bands nowadays are a total copy of someone else before. Let's take this vid as another proud member of it's "genre". Not as a stolen piece. It required some skill and creativity and what matters - it's great!
