Carl Czerny: Symphony No. 1 in C minor (1/4)

This is Czerny's opus 780 - a piece clearly resembling Beethoven, one of Czerny's teachers. The Staatsorchester Frankfurt (Oder) plays under Nikos Athinäos.

My apologies for the slightly incomplete first chord. I had to cut out the repetition of the exposition part due to youtube's stupid 10-minute-rule for single videos. I hate doing that since I think the sonata form really needs that repetition but splitting the movement into two pieces is even worse so I opted for the cutting out.

this is awesome - i dont understand how music such as this is unfamiliar to me - why is it not performed more often and well known like the other great symphonic music - of course czerny was influenced by beethoven and mendelsohn and others but he is a true symphonic genius in his own right - hopefully this top quality music will continue to be uncovered and duly recognized - thanks astardis!

Dico sembra perchè ognuno è se stesso e irripetibile,ma le affinità sono tante e udibili, ma questa somiglianza stupisce perchè il maestro di Bonn non è uno che li si "ricrei dentro"se non si è eccelsi a propria volta pur senza eguagliarlo. La scoperta di questo compositore ha per me dello stupefacente!!!Sto ascoltando tutto quello che è stato caricato di lui qui su you tube, e non c'è nulla e sottolineo nulla che non mi abbia destato in me una ammirazione vasta ed emozionante.Tutto mi ha persuaso: dalla linee melodiche all' orchestrazione, dalla forza al ritmo;c'è del grandioso e non a caso egli è stato il+grande e fedele discepolo di quel genio assoluto e titanico che fu Beethoven.Sembra di ascoltare il maestro di Bonn redivivo!
