  • the station looks kinda different, wasn't there a peaked tower on one end?

  • @pennyf9 Yes, you are right. Some details to the train station, such as the tower, were constructed solely for the film and have since been taken down. The majority of what was used is still there though and basically looks the same.

  • Very interesting Elvis... and thanks for commenting.

  • Alot of this still looks the same!!!! As it did in1969!

  • Search here for 'Guinans' and 'Last Train to Guinans'. And to the right you'll find all sorts of additional videos of similar.

  • Don't mean to stomp on your post but thought you might find this interesting too:

If you do a search for 'Gwendolyn Bounds' and/or 'Little Chapel' on the River, you can read a little more about the history of this spot.

*I have zero personal interest in or anything to gain by the above - purely the love of local history !

  • @meazmo The red brick house described as 'Walter Matthaus' was the Templetons home (Diane/Greg).

Funny hearing a friends house described as a movie set. It was a very 'homey'/comfy place ! So long ago...

Strangely, the one building not shown is Guinans Store - just to the left of the boats. If the camera had pointed out the windshield instead of the side window it would have been seen right there straight ahead (hows that for a 'tortured' sentence ?) Thanks for this vid though! Homesick.

  • Oh, my gosh! This is absolutely fascinating!

    Thanks for this!

  • I also grew up in Garrison, and my first job ever was tearing down the facade of the movie. It was a store, I forget the name. It was owned by the Templeton's. Also, the railroad bridge was actually moved slightly north.
