@groovydjs Hey dude. I was just wondering if you knew what kind of bass jaco played. The player makes the bass. (if you were wondering, jaco played a fender jazz bass)

Sounds like mud. Get a REAL bass.

im so happy i discover ur channel

@moronslave GET-ONE OF EACH! or get a P/J bass(p-bass and jazz pickups) spend some time with the one you got and get to know it,once you got a good playing sense you will figure out for yourself what bass fits you and your style and music A good player can get ANY bass to sound like what he needs, but before breaking the bank figure out where your going with it and once you find the right bass for you it will be perfectly clear, your perfect bass will find you, learn the basics first though.

@gnufender i think he was just slowing it down to make it easier to hear what hes playing
Hi Marlowe, what made you decide to use precision bass? I have a hard time deciding between this and Jazz, I ended up with Jazz though. But I can't really differentiate. Is precision bass more recommended for funk/slap and jazz is more for for finger style? I'm just a beginner in bass. Thanks!

@moronslave Because I have both;-) Precision is generally most popular in rock settings , and the Jazz bass in funk. I think you should go for the Jazz, its more versatile

Marlowe, I noticed you tap the strings rythmically with your right hand while playing fingerstyle. I do this too and I thought it was a problem with my playing style. I guess I just fell into it because I practice without a drum machine or a metronome. It helps give me the feel and syncopation I want. It's a timing mechanism for me. Is it okay to do this as a working bass player or will other musicians think my playing is sloppy? Owen

@bassturkey If its in time, its not sloppy, i do it all the time, but sometimes im more discreet when called for (studio)
