Originally a silver 4 cylinder automatic headed to the junkyard, now a carbureted 5.0, 5 speed, 3.73 gears with every 5.0 V8 drivetrain/suspension option added (or being added). Runs 14.2 @ 98mph. Stay tuned for further progress.

  • UPDATE - patch repairs on driver's side floor, trans tunnel, trunk floor - new rear suspension, new rear brakes, new steel brakes lines front to rear - gas tank refurbed, new wiring in engine compartment, new wiring for stereo system, lower A-pillars (where the hinges mount) completely cut out and replaced, reconstruction of d side fender mount. currently in process of grinding all rust from undercarriage and body. hope to be priming sometime in the very near future.

  • What did you spray the engine with, I am having a hard time to get my paint to stick

  • @carboneclipse3g well, the first thing I do spray the block with many cans of CRC brake clean to degrease the engine, use compressed air to dry it off, then grind as much rust and scale off as I can with an angle die grinder using 2" Roloc brand Medium grinding pads. blow off the loose particles again, spray the entire block again with Brake Clean, dry the block again, heat the block with a propane heater then spray 4 coats of with VHT Extreme Heat Gloss engine paint.

  • what is the name of the song ?

  • YOU are 100 times better off building your own, than the new Mexican/China made models with emissions sensors all over the place.

  • how much did it cost for you to swap it, do i need a computer if i carb it

  • @pmm01532 couldn't you just powder coat the valve covers?

  • @pmm01532 do pros use that magnetic way of painting on engine blocks. like powder coating, like painting with a positive and negative charge?

  • WOW great video and beatiful engine. I have an '86 EFI 5.0 w/220,000 on the original block. Never been into the engine, but i was wondering if i should do a rebuild just to restore power? The car runs great though, no smoke, no ticks/rattles. Would it be worth the time/money to do a full rebuild or just let her keep on rollin'?

  • @412bigd sounds like you don't need help, but you can contact me here anytime and let me know what you need help with... I didn't have a fuel injections system available to me at the time, and to tell you the truth, I like the old school look better than the big ugly upper plenum... but your right, the power made with EFI is more and much smoother.... sounds like you've got all the right components, but careful not to put too much valve with the heads if it's staying naturally aspirated.
