A launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery as viewed from the Sanibel Causeway on the west coast of Florida at 7:43 p.m. EDT on the evening of Sunday, March 15, 2009. Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa is in the foreground. Gives a good indication how well the shuttle launches can be viewed from across the state. The shuttle itself cannot be clearly viewed until about a minute into the video, when the camera zooms in closer.

Hi,

I'm staying on sanibel next month on west gulf drive and was wondering where the best place is to watch a launch at night? Also, a place where we can see it from our car would be ideal to avoid the infamous no-see-ems. Which direction do we need to look towards (landmarks)?
