Folic Acid "It's Never Too Early" Awareness Campaign

As a founding member of the Folic Acid Alliance of Ontario, SB&H is committed to reducing the incidence of neural tube defects by promoting the consumption of folic acid. The Alliance launched a province wide public education and awareness campaign, targeting women 18 to 35 years of age through advertising, posters, pamphlets, PSAs, publicity and a web site. Community Action Kits have been provided to Public Health Units and Community Health Centres to assist them in spreading the word about folic acid to women in their communities. Our partners include: Easter Seal Society of Ontario; The Fetal Center at the Hospital for Sick Children; Best Start: Ontario's Maternal, New Born and Early Child Development Resource Centre; and The Ontario Society of Nutrition Professionals in Public Health.
