@KjartanThordarson the dogs are trained to attack the arm guard, which is actually a fatal mistake, because in a real situation, the dog would look for the arm guard to attack, but most crooks don't go around wearing arm guards, and so the dog usually won't attack. I usually see the dogs attack the arm guard, and rip it off, and run off with it. Basically, the dog learns that the arm guard is the target, and couldn't care less about the person, which is accidental.

@KjartanThordarson thats easy these dogs are not traained to kill but to protect, they are trained to attack certain parts of the body wich could be of harm to them for example atacking the head the so called robber or who ever could use there arms to pick up a weapen but attack arm gives them no other way of offence unless the dog is small in size but that would be unlikly being that people prefer larger dogs for protection.

The mastiff is actually a Tosa which is a Japanese breed; i've seen a few out here in Japan.
