On this day in history, 7 December 1785, John Newton (writer of Amazing Grace) told William Wilberforce (slavery abolitionist) to remain an MP. Others had been urging the newly converted Wilberforce to leave public life. He didn't. Instead he went on to abolish slavery in Britain and end the slave trade throughout the British Empire, plus much more.

  • Christians, just as much as muslims and hindus, have the right to be political, but they have no right to enforce christian or any other religious beliefs upon their subjects. Also, serving God via politics makes no sense because there is power in politics, and power corrupts. Politics should be completely neutral(atheistic), just like every other social institution.

  • encouraging video, Christians can really be light of the world, a truly great channel, all best to Christian institute

  • Respond to this video...

that's not what those verses are saying.

  • @lexpea 9 If he selects her for his son, he must grant her the rights of a daughter. 10 If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights. 11 If he does not provide her with these three things, she is to go free, without any payment of money.

  • @HouseofFrogs 7 “If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. 8 If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself,[b] he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her.

  • thankyou for this and God bless your work in the UK

  • A salutary reminder in our day of the need for Christian politicians. Thank you Colin and may your video inspire Christian ministry in politics.
