October 17th, 2009 marked this year's Run for the Cure/Walk for Life marathon event. This was the culmination of months of planning for the foundation. Here's a little glimpse of the activities that went down that day.
The foundation raised about 7.6 million yen - in the video I say it's about 80,000 US dollars, but at the time of uploading it's about 84,000 US dollars. We had 1,540 people participate! It was a hectic day, but we're grateful that people understood the trials behind putting together an event like this. It was quite the operation.
The Dance for the Cure event in Shibuya was the first ever! It was a new shindig to benefit the foundation put together by the awesome, awesome Ubdobe (http://www.ubdobe.jp).
Here's links to all of the fantastic people that performed/participated:

NOTE: I am a terrible person who put the wrong group names on the wrong bands. Swap Phewwhoo and Hotel New Tokyo. I switched their names and didn't realize it until after it had been uploaded. Oops.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out for these two events. Dance for the Cure saw around 200 people in attendance, and everyone had a fantastic night. I had such a hard time choosing what music to use in the video...but if anyone is interested in seeing some footage from the other performances that night, I'd be happy to put some up. For more info about the foundation, check out http://www.runforthecure.org. If you want to help out for next year's event(s), get in touch via the volunteer page...or just pester me come next summer and I'll help you get things going.
October was an almost sleepless month for the three of us at the foundation (I look a little haggard in this video, sorry), but it was really worth it to get results like these - to know you're making a difference. It was awesome!
Music in this video was from the two events.
The remixed version of Papa's Got a Brand New Bag was put together by the DJ at the run: http://dj1ta-raw.blogspot.com/
And the music from Dance for the Cure was one of the songs performed by Phewwhoo (link above).
The next video will be from the other big event I helped plan for - PiNK Ball! Keep an eye out for that. Editing is already underway!

Yes, there were people dancing during the performances - it doesn't really look like it when you see the drummers...but once people had a few drinks, there was dancing.

My next video will be on the Pink Ball event, which we had at the end of October. It was a big fundraiser gala. Black tie/ball gown event.
After that, there's a golf tournament (which I'm not helping with). And then it all happens again next year!
