The man who plays Kurt Weber in this episode was arrested in 1963 for "Attempting to solicit sex in exchange for morphine and horse tranquilizers" from a police officer posing as a prostitute. I'm only joking; but it's the kind of thing he looks capable of. Produced during the most nauseating years of the Red Scare, there are a lot of classic Cold War ideals that show up, particularly in this episode. Compare the oppressive, inherently evil, totalitarian planet to the Earth and its fearless GBI investigators, who always come out on top through fighting for good. The jackasses; I'm glad their show bombed. Unfortunately it didn't; it was an immense success among Sci-fi fans of the time. So it goes.
Thanks for making "Flash Gordon" available.
